Touch is fundamental to healthy human development and connection from birth high through to death and has been used in healing for thousands of years from as early as 2700BC.

The placing of hands upon skin triggers a range of physiological responses which affect the skin, the sensory nerve receptors, the muscle tissue, the circulation of blood and lymph, the ease and movement of joints and other body systems.
Our emotional responses are also felt as bodily sensations. If we are continually stressed and anxious and in a stage of 'fight and flight' overtime these feelings may manifest physically as muscular tension and soreness, head aches and gastrointestinal disturbances. A chronic state of stress may suppress the bodies ability to rest and repair leading to compromises in our immune system and over all health and emotional wellbeing.

Similarly everyday postural habits and the fast pace of life may contribute to muscular soreness and tension. We need to listen to our bodies as over a period of time our muscles may become stiff and sore and suffer reduce mobility and this is where massage can help.

Massage may help to improve your mental and physical health in a variety of ways:

My Approach

It’s easy to do great things when you believe in what you do. My intention is to give the best possible massage I can by working with the agenda you bring on the day. Your massage time will include a consultation. Prior to your massage we will have a consultation in order for us to meet and for me to ascertain your needs, get to know a bit more about you and identify any health related issues. treatments will be bespoke according to what ever agenda you bring on the day. I do not follow a set of routines and I will draw on a range of massage techniques and experience to best to support you. 
Holistic massage and therapies can have a profound impact leading to exciting changes in both energy and personal growth. Holistic therapies such as massage can help support you through long-term stress and illness, bringing you a new sense of well-being and relaxation. So if it's a sore neck, shoulders and lower back you might be experiencing from sitting at a desk or driving for long periods, or support through the painful healing process of loss and grief Holistic massage can assist you on a therapeutic journey of healing.

Holistic Massage is not a deep tissue massage however if I find an area which requires particular attention I will communicate this to you and with your consent work with your body to encourage results. I do not believe that the application of force and pain is necessary for a releasing massage. I encourage feedback throughout, this is a partnership, so there is always opportunity for this or if you prefer the peace and quiet there is opportunity for this too.
I will be utilising a mixture of strokes and pressure from deep to light holds in order to achieve this, for example:

  •  Effleurage                                                                
  • Petrissage
  • Kneading and Friction
  • Percussion 
  • Passive Joint Mobilisation 
  • Stretches
  • Still holds
  • An awareness of energy


I will be using a variety of therapuetic bespoke oils which we will discuss and agree at consultation. Should you have any allergies please be sure to report this information to me.


For our health and safety I will also be following recommendations and guidelines in place for COVID 19 from The Council for Soft Tissue Therapies (GCMT).
Your personal health information shared is confidential and I will be following General Data Protection Regulations and Data Protection Act 2018 guidelines which assures that it will be held securely. 

Your treatments will be conducted in a warm and private room and when massaging I will use drapes and towels to ensure you are warm and comfortable throughout, only undraping those areas I am working on. I also will be working over the drapes. You are free to undress, to whatever level you feel comfortable with. The benefits of a full body massage can include gluteals but that is personal preference and can be agreed at consultation.  


I will let you know when the massage is complete. I will leave the room for you to get dressed and we will have an opportunity to discuss some self-care and exercises as appropriate afterwards.
